sire Madiar 31(15-9-2) is
one of the most successful Drug 39(15-11-3-3) offsprings. Like his father he has won all classic races in Russia,
inkluding the Derby.
Madiar was the first horse to win the prestigious WAHO Trophy Award in Russia 2005. This is the jurys motivation for the award:
"MADIAR [Drug / Martinika]. Grey stallion, 1994. Breeder and owner: Tersk Stud. Strain: Kehailan Moradi (Sahara).
The Russian Arabian Horse Stud Book and the Russian Ministry of Agriculture - Rosplemkonzavod, have awarded the 2005 WAHO Trophy for Russia to the stallion Madiar, Race and Show Champion. Madiar combines a classic Russian pedigree with athletic prowess and beauty and is a well-deserving winner of the first WAHO Trophy for Russia.
This outstanding horse was born in Tersk stud – the cradle of Russian Arabian horses. He is a tall (1m 60 cm), powerful stallion with fantastic movement, whose charisma makes this special unforgettable impression on everybody who sees him.
He has a superlative race record, racing for six seasons from the age of 2 to 7. From his first race he proved himself as a serious racehorse, starting his career with a win in the Grand Prix for 2-year- olds, the most prestigious race for young horses in Russia. After that he never left a chance for others in the major races for 3-year-olds and older horses. Madiar is the “Triple Crown” holder not only according to the traditional Russian system, winning major events in each age group - Grand Prix for 2-year olds, Russian Derby and “Topol” Stakes; but also according to European classification, coming first in Group 1 races for 3-year-olds: Derby, “Grand Summer” Stakes and “Budenny” Stakes. He also won other top class races including the Aswan Prize, and the Grand Sprinter prize. Madiar also proved his top class on the European tracks: in 1998 he won the Darc Stakes in The Netherlands and the Prix Pompadour in Switzerland. In 2000 he came second in the Nagrada Europa in Warsaw. Altogether, his career race record is 31 = 15-9-2. This is how his life long trainer Alexander Hubulov describes him: “However competitive and strong Madiar’s opponents were, I was always confident that he would give the race 100%, and even one thing more, which is only possessed by special race horses – his heart”.
His success on the racetracks and in the show ring is largely owed to Madiar’s exceptional pedigree. His sire Drug (by Prizrak and out of Karinka - one of the best mares in Tersk history and still a race record holder) was 1991 European Show Champion and twice named European Racehorse of the Year (1990 and 1991). Altogether, Drug has left big impact on the Arabian breed worldwide. Madiar’s dam, Martinika, is the daughter of renowned Aswan and out of the famous broodmare Monogramma. The full sister of Madiar, Madiera, is currently one of the best broodmares in Tersk, and her first filly, Mari, in 2004 smashed two National race records over 1000 m and 1200 m.
After his successful racing career, Madiar returned to his home stud to start his new career as a breeding stallion. In 2004, he proved again his Champion status, but this time in the show ring, his exceptional movement and excellent Arabian type winning him the title of Senior Champion stallion during Saint Petersburg ECAHO C-show.
Due his to long racing career, Madiar started producing in the stud relatively late, but already there are a number of true racetrack “fighters” among his offspring. These include Vahmister, winner of a number of prestigious races in Kazakhstan; Vamplana, who was second in the Oaks in 2005; Medium, who had a good racing career on the Moscow racetrack; and Pyatigorsk racetrack favorites Kaiman and Monomah."
This is not the only time a Drug-offspring was awarded the WAHO-Trophy; in 2008 the mare Nahodka won it. She is the dame of russian Derby winner Nonius.
Madiar also has a full sister Madeira who also
won the russian Derby. His sire Drug won the title European Racehorse
of the year 1990 and 1991. 1990 he also became European Champion Stallion.
Drug - that's power, performance, movement, type and charisma! He
is Walter Farley's black stallion in white. Drug is the kind of stallion
who would easily survive in wilderness, he is strong and a fighter
who hates other stallions. But to humans he is gentle and easy to
handle. Drug, born in 1985 at Tersk Stud in Russia, is an absolute
performance stallion; his father Prizrak (Kankan x Ptashka) was a
succesful racehorse in Russia 2/14(3-2-3). He was not extremly typey,
but had a very good conformation, a beautiful topline and a lot of
expression which he passed on to his son. Another well known son of
Prizrak is Drakon (out of Prikhot), also a succesfull racehorse and
now a sire of racehorses in Germany. Prizrak was used many years in
the warmblood breed in Russia, before he was exported to Belgium,
where he died at age 23. Drug's mother Karinka (Aswan x Karta) was
a beautiful performance-mare 2/21(8-8-2) who proved herself as a broodmare
with her children Drug, Karnaval (by Naftalin), Kosmonaut (by Naftalin),
Vakansia (by Peleng), Kontrolnaja and Koldunia (by Naftalin) and the
Tersk chiefsire Kingsize (by Gusar). Karinka is buried in Tersk, next
to her father Aswan. As you can see, Drug has "racing ability"
in his genes, no wonder he had a fantastic racing career in Russia
and in Europe 5/35(13-9-4)! His legs of steel survived the challenge
of 5 years of racing on some of Russia's worst racetracks, one of
them is called "the gravel-pit". Among his many wins are
the Russian Derby, the Coupe d'Europe (France) and Al Nayan International
(England).
Mondiales
mother Milias pedigree is a palett of the best racing lines that can
be found in Russia.
Sire Parusnik, 1/8(0-0-1), by Naftalin, 1/10(2-1-3), the Topol-son
who produced so many perfect performance horses. Naftalin is out of
the superb broodmare Nepriadwa, who is also the dam of Naturel (by
Mag), Scottsdale Champion Stallion and Nedanka (by Nadejni), one of
the better broodmares at the Kossack Stud; Nepriadwa died at the age
of 20 at the Kossack Stud in Holland. Parusnik is the last product
of race-legend and superb racemare Prikhot (Sport x Perikola), the
best bloodlines in Russia for racing; Prikhot, 2/16(8-5-2)Winner of
Russian Oaks, Russian Derby, was second in M.I. Kalinin and Gt Summer
Prizes. She set four speed records. Still recordholder for 3yo in
Russia on 1.800m. – 1.58.6 and 2.000m – 2.13.0. Parusnik
scored already a Russian Derby Winner in 2002 TREPET(out of Troyka)
Prikhots father Sport 4/32(12-6-9) was a Priboj son of marginal breeding
use but of outstanding athletic potential. Foaled in 1957, Sport was
out of the Skrzyp daughter, Solianka II. Sport was the winner of many
races in the Soviet Union, but was best known for winning the 4,000
meter steeplechase in 1964, defeating 11 other participants, including
eight Thoroughbreds.
Her dame Modnaya is by Namek. Namek, chestnut born 1964 raced in 1966
& 1967, Pyatigorsk and Tbilisi: 2/19(4-6-3-1-5). Sire at Zimovniki
Stud, returned to Tersk in 1978, stood there for 1 season, exported
to USA in 1979. His father was the superb stallion Arax who tragically
died while boarding the ship from Russia to Holland. Arax raced very
well 2/18(5-5-2) as did many of his offspring.
